‘We were on a break.’ The fans of the F.R.I.E.N.D.S TV show would know what we are talking about. Whether friends or relatives are posting incessantly or you just want to avoid an ex-flame – Tad bit easier in real life. But with social media, that is challenging. To avoid that, Facebook introduced the Take a break feature.
In simple words, this feature is Facebook’s attempt to ease the phase. It starts with Facebook not announcing your relationship status when you change it to single, divorced, or set it blank. Only when you add in a relationship, married, or engaged, it is published on your feed with your permission.
That’s not all that the take a break feature is all about. Let’s get to know it in detail and how to activate and undo it.
What Is Take a Break Feature
The Take a break feature lets you literally take a break from someone on Facebook without making it obvious. The person could be your ex, a friend, business partner, or anyone.
Let’s take the example of your ex-flame. Typically, if you break up with someone, you want to avoid that person as much as possible – both in the real and digital world. The easy step is to remove them from your friend list or block them. However, both are harsh and apparent. That is where Take a break feature helps you.
It is designed to help you avoid or view fewer stories from the person on your feed. Similarly, it also restricts the other person from viewing your updates on Facebook. And by doing so, you are digitally avoiding the person without unfriending them.
What Happens When You Take a Break from Someone on Facebook
Now that you know the idea behind the feature, let’s see what happens behind the scenes.
1. Limit What You See of Someone
When you use this feature, the first major change that can take place is that the Facebook algorithms will hide the person from your view as much as possible. Now hiding on Facebook means a bunch of things that are listed below.
For instance, you won’t see any posts from the person on your feed. Meaning, when the person posts something on Facebook, it will not appear on your feed. You will have to open their Facebook profile manually to view their latest updates. In a way, you are unfollowing the person.
Next, if a mutual friend has tagged the said person in a picture or post, that won’t show up on your feed. Also, Facebook won’t prompt or show the person’s name on the list that pop-ups when you are adding tags. You will have to search for the person’s name if you want to tag them.
Usually, Facebook sends a notification if you and your Facebook friends are going to the same events. However, that won’t happen with this special person.
2. Limit What Other Person Sees of You
The Take a break feature also gives you the ability to hide your posts from the other person’s feed. It’s done by adding the person to Facebook’s restricted list.
Typically, when you add a person to the restricted list, it changes the privacy settings in a way that your future posts and stories won’t be visible to that person. Even if the person visits your profile, the latest updates will not be visible. Only if the post is public or you have tagged the said person, they can view it. The same rules apply to the people you take a break from as Facebook automatically adds them to the restricted list.
3. Limit Privacy of Past Posts Between Two of You
Facebook takes charge of your previous posts too. By doing that, many things change automatically, and you don’t have to do anything. Firstly, if you have ever tagged the other person, then that content will not be shown to them. It will be visible to other tagged people only.
Further, if you were a contributor for any shared album with the person you want to take a break from, you will be removed from it. That is, you can no longer add to those albums.
Note: When you activate the take a break feature for someone, you have to customize the above settings. You can mix and match.
Where Can You See Each Other
Let’s see what doesn’t change by using this feature.
Messages
Nothing happens to the messages on Facebook Messenger. You can still message each other. However, you will not be prompted to message them, i.e., you won’t see their name as a shortcut. To hide the chat thread from your view on Messenger, you can archive or delete it.
Wall Posts
Both of you can still post on each other’s timeline after taking a break if your privacy settings allow that. Who else can see the post again depends on your existing privacy settings.

How Long Does Facebook Take a Break Last
There is no time limit on this feature. It lasts until you follow the person again or remove them from the restricted list.
Does Someone Know If You Take a Break On Facebook
No. Nobody gets to know that you have taken a break from someone, including the special person. It’s a sweet little secret between you and Facebook.
However, the other person might find things a bit suspicious when your posts stop appearing on their feed and also when they will be unable to see the posts on your wall.
How to Take a Break from Someone
To take a break from someone on Facebook, you need to perform two major steps – launch the take a break mode and then select its preferences. We have first shown how to launch the mode, and then we will dive into its preferences.
1. Open Take a Break Mode
By default, when you change your relationship status to single, divorced, or empty, you will be prompted to use the take a break feature. To use it without changing your relationship status, follow these steps for the Facebook mobile apps and desktop.
Launch Take a Break on Facebook Website
For that, open Facebook and log in with your account. Then open the below given dedicated Take a Break feature link.
Launch Take a Break on Facebook Android App
Open the profile of the special person. Tap on Friends and select Take a Break from the menu. Then set preferences as shown next.
Launch Take a Break on Facebook iPhone App
For that, visit the special Facebook profile. Tap on the friends icon followed by tapping on Friends. Then, tap on Take a Break. You will be asked to set the preferences.
2. Set Take a Break Preferences
Those sections are the same that we discussed under ‘what happens when you take a break from someone’ section. As mentioned before, you can choose one setting from one section and a different setting in the second section. That is, you can see less of someone, but you can let them view your posts. So choose the options carefully.
In the second section, select the box next to ‘Hide your posts from [name of the person].’
Lastly, Facebook provides three options for limiting past posts.
How to Undo Take a Break on Facebook
There are two methods to stop taking a break from someone.
1. Reverse Take a Break Directly
On the Facebook website, open the Take a Break link. Type the name of the person from whom you were taking a break.
On the mobile apps, follow the steps mentioned above to launch the take a break feature. Yes, you need to repeat the same steps.
Once you are in the customization screen of the take a break feature, you need to bring back the settings to their original values. That is, in the first section, select ‘See [name of the person] anywhere on Facebook.
In the second section, select ‘No longer limit what [name] can see’.
Finally, select ‘Keep all posts as they are’ in the last section. Don’t forget to press Save under each section.
Note: The tags and posts that were removed will not be added or shown again.
2. Stop Taking a Break Indirectly
Since this feature unfollows the person and adds them to your restricted list, you need to reverse those two things. That is, follow the person again and remove them from your restricted list. In either case, the other person will not be informed.
Follow on Facebook
On iPhone, you will find it under the friends icon.
Remove from Restricted List
Here are the steps:
Facebook Web
Android
iPhone
Open the profile of the person and tap on the friends icon. Then, tap on Friends and select Edit Friends list. Uncheck Restricted and tap on Done.
Can’t Find Someone After Taking a Break
If things don’t become normal after you stop taking a break from someone, there could be a few reasons for that. For instance, either the person might have blocked you, or they might be taking a break from you. If the person doesn’t appear in your list, they could have unfriended you.
In case none of them is true and you still can’t find the person, ask them to share their profile link. That way, you can directly add them without searching them.
Everybody Needs to Take a Break
If you don’t want to offend the other person by blocking or unfriending them, then taking a break is a great option. You no longer see their posts on your feed, and your posts are also hidden from them.
The overall thing maintains your sanity as you no longer see content from the person you are trying to avoid. When and if things go back to normal, you can stop taking a break from them on Facebook. And they would never know what happened. You will continue to be friends. What a great idea!

Facebook Take A Break Vs Unfollow And Unfriend: How Do They Differ
Too many uncomfortable and unsolicited updates from friends or pages can certainly put off on Facebook’s Feed. Thankfully, apart from unfriending someone, Facebook provides two other similar functions – Unfollow and Take a break. You’ll figure out the difference between the three here.
‘Flames to dust. Lovers to friends. Why do all good things come to an end?’ Those are the lyrics from a song All Good Things (Come To An End) by Nelly Furtado, which explains the sad cycle of life. The harshest way to end things on Facebook is by blocking a person. However, not everyone wants to go on a blocking spree.
You can unfollow, unfriend, or take a break from them. But what’s the difference between the three and which one to use? Find the answer here where we compare them.
What Does Unfriend Mean on Facebook
Unfriend is the oldest option available on Facebook to stop communicating with someone. When you unfriend a person, you are removed from each other’s friends list. It’s a two-way feature. Even if one unfriends, the repercussions will be the same for both. That is, you both will not be able to see other’s private posts – both the future and the past.
What Does Unfollow Mean on Facebook
Unfollow is mildly unfriending someone without letting them know. You are not unfriending a person, but when you unfollow someone, you will not see their posts on your timeline. However, they can still see your posts. It’s a way to hide someone’s post from appearing on your timeline.
What Does Take a Break Mean on Facebook
Take a break is designed to help you in literally taking a break from someone on Facebook. It is a combination of unfollowing someone and adding them to the restricted list.
By taking a break, three things happen. First, you cannot see the other person’s post on your feed (equivalent to Unfollow). Secondly, they will not be able to see your private posts too (equal to adding them to the Restricted list). Thirdly, you also get the privilege to delete the past posts that happened between you two or keep them intact.
The interesting thing about this feature is that you can let one or two things happen and keep the third intact. You can choose what you want to do with this feature. Whatever decision you take, all that happens without unfriending the other person. That is, they continue to remain in your friends’ list.
Now that you have got a brief idea about each feature let’s see what happens to various things on Facebook when you use one of those three.
What Happens to News Feed Updates
Let’s check for each feature.
Unfriend
Being in each other’s friends list plays an important role to view private posts on Facebook. So once you unfriend someone, you will not see each other’s updates in your news feed. Visiting their profile will also not help unless the post setting is set to public. That is, both of you will only see the public posts when you open their profile. Both the existing and future private posts will be hidden.
Unfollow
The basic functionality of the Unfollow feature is to hide the other person’s future updates from your feed. That is, the posts won’t appear automatically on your feed. However, when you visit the unfollowed person’s profile, you can still see those posts if their privacy setting allows it.
But, unfollow doesn’t change anything from your end for them. That is, your posts will still appear in their feed and on your timeline if they wish to check. It only hides their updates from your view.
Take a Break
As mentioned before, the Take a break feature lets you customize its settings. It lets you stop seeing someone’s post on your feed and hide your posts from their view.
When you select the former, Facebook will automatically unfollow the person, and the things mentioned above for Unfollow will continue to remain true for Take a break. That is, their posts will not show up on your feed.
Similarly, if you enable the second option too, then the person will be added to your Restricted list. After that, the said person won’t be able to see your posts on his or her feed and on your timeline. Only if a post is public, it will be visible.
Note: You can enable both options or choose one only.
What Happens to Facebook Stories
Similar to news feed updates, unfriending someone takes away the power to view each other’s stories. The story won’t appear on your feed too. However, if a story is public and you happen to visit the other person’s profile, then you can view it.
In the case of Unfollow, the other person’s stories will not appear in your feed. But you can view them by visiting that person’s profile. Your stories will be visible to them.
When it comes to taking a break, it depends on two things. If you are limiting their posts, then their stories will also not appear for you. And, if you are limiting your posts, then they cannot see your stories even if they visit your profile. That’s how Restricted lists work.
Posting on the Wall
When you unfriend someone, you lose the power to communicate with them in terms of wall posts. That is, you will not be able to publish anything on their wall. The same holds true from their side too. Meaning, they cannot post on your wall.
The Unfollow or Take a break feature doesn’t affect the ability to publish on each other’s wall. You both can still post on the other person’s wall if their privacy setting for publishing on the wall allows that.
Can You Like and Comment
Can You Message Each Other
In all three cases, you can still message each other. None of the options affects your conversation on Facebook Messenger.
What Happens to Past Posts
Unfriending someone hides the past posts too from each other unless they are public. The past posts remain unaffected by unfollowing a person. Meaning, both of you can still view each other’s previous posts.
In the case of Take a break, you are offered three options when it comes to the past posts that have happened between you two. You can either keep them as they are or edit their privacy settings individually. Alternatively, you can choose to delete all the past posts.
Where Can You Use These Facebook Features
Unfriend works only for the people on your friends list.
You can unfollow your friend, liked pages, and groups.
Take a break feature that works for everyone on Facebook.
How Long Does Each Feature Last
All the three features last until you revoke them manually. Meaning, one of you will have to add the other person again when you use the unfriend option. Similarly, you will have to follow the person again to receive their updates in your feed. The Take a break feature also continues until you undo it.
In case you are looking for something temporary, you should use the Facebook Snooze feature. It has all the features of Unfollow, but it lasts for 30 days only.
Do Others Know When You Use These Options
Well, it depends. While Facebook doesn’t send a notification to the other person for any of the three options, one might get suspicious.
In the case of unfriending someone, it’s directly apparent as their profile will seem locked, and you will see the Add Friend button. Find out who unfriended you on Facebook.
You Should Break Free
If you don’t want the other person to see your posts and you are okay with not seeing theirs, but you also don’t want to block them, you can unfriend them.
If you are bothered by someone’s posts, you can unfollow them. That way you will not have to fry your brains by reading contrasting posts and it will happen without unfriending them. Unfriending or blocking someone can come across as too harsh just to avoid someone. So you should take a break from them on Facebook.

Hướng Dẫn Kiếm Tiền Từ Facebook Ad Breaks Toàn Tập
Chương trình này còn khá mới, nếu bạn không nắm bắt sớm thì cơ hội sẽ rơi vào tay người khác.
Let’s go!
How To Raise Hand On Zoom
While video conferencing apps have definitely brought people together and have helped mimic working conditions, they lack the personal interactions that stem from physical meetings, like how do you catch the host’s attention when you are on a call with 50 other people.
What is Raise Hand on Zoom
Zoom has an interesting way of allowing users to interact with the host of the meeting by providing nonverbal feedback. One of these feedback options allows participants to raise their hand in a meeting, while simultaneously alerting the host. This way, you can request to speak up or share your concerns during a meeting if you have been muted by the host.
At the time, besides Zoom, only Microsoft Teams allows users to use the ‘ raise hand’ feature during meetings. Google is expected to roll out a Hand raising feature for its Meet users in a future release giving participants in a meeting a chance to speak upon raising their hand.

How to Raise Hand on Windows PC and Mac
If you happen to be attending a Zoom Meeting from your Windows PC or Macbook, follow this guide to learn how to provide nonverbal feedback to the host by raising your hand.
Step 1: Launch Zoom and join a meeting as a participant (not a host).
There’s a keyboard shortcut! Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts to Raise your hand on Windows and Mac. Press the “Alt + Y” key on either of the systems to toggle Raise Hand option ON or OFF.
The Raise Hand button will only be visible if you’re not a current host of the meeting. If you had previously left a meeting and the current host hasn’t re-assigned you back as the host, you can access the Raise hand button inside your Participants panel.
Note: Zoom allows only one type of nonverbal feedback to be active at a time.

How to Raise Hand on Android and iPhone
If you are using the mobile version of the Zoom app, follow this guide to learn how to provide nonverbal feedback to the host by raising your hand.
Step 1: Launch the Zoom app and join a meeting as a participant and not a host.
Step 2: To raise your hand to speak up, tap on the ‘More’ button from the meeting controls at the bottom right corner of the screen and then select the ‘Raise Hand’ option from the popup menu.
The meeting host will now be notified that you raised on your hand, regardless of the device they’re using Zoom on.

How to Raise Hand on a Phone call
Zoom allows users to dial into meetings directly from a phone, without the use of an application. In such cases, if the participant wishes to raise their hand while in a meeting on a phone, they must dial *9 on their phone’s dial pad.
Where is the Raise Hand icon
When a participant has raised their hand in a meeting, a small hand icon appears next to their name. Zoom lists the participants in the order in which their hands were raised.
Raise Hand option missing?
There can be two reasons for a user not being able to see the Raise hand icon.
When in fullscreen mode, Zoom minimizes the bottom toolbar to create an immersive experience. If you don’t see the bottom toolbar while in a meeting, here’s what you can do:
On mobile devices, simply tap the screen of your Zoom meeting and the toolbar will appear. Now you can select the ‘Participants’ tab and select ‘Raise hand’.
If the host has disabled nonverbal feedback for the meeting, the participants will not see the option to ‘Raise Hand’ or any other feedback. Ask the meeting’s host to enable Nonverbal feedback under his Zoom settings on the web to enable Raise Hand feature.
How to enable Nonverbal feedback in a meeting
Note: Only the host can enable or disable Nonverbal Feedback in a meeting.
To enable Nonverbal feedback in a meeting, follow the steps below:
Step 1: Visit chúng tôi and sign in with your username and password.
Step 3: In the ‘Meeting’ tab scroll down to ‘Nonverbal feedback’. Toggle the button on or off to enable or disable the participants to provide nonverbal feedback.
Whether you are a host acknowledging a participant or a participant who accidentally raised their hand (hey, it happens), follow these steps to lower a hand in a Zoom meeting.
How to lower a participant’s hand
How to lower hand yourself
If you’re the one who used the ‘Raise Hand’ feature to speak up during a meeting but you now want to undo it, you can do so using the ‘Lower Hand’ button that will appear in place of the ‘Raise Hand’ button.
There’s a keyboard shortcut! Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts to Lower your hand on Windows and Mac. Press the “Alt + Y” key on either of the systems to toggle Lower Hand option ON or OFF.
When using Zoom on your phone (Android or iOS), you can lower your hand by tapping the More button from meeting controls at the bottom right corner and then selecting the ‘Lower Hand’ option.
How to find all the participants who Raised Hands-on Zoom
Alternatively, you can also simply check out the ‘Participants’ menu to find the Raised Hand icon next to the participants who raised their hand.
